It just seemed weirdly repetitive. It was like the screenwriter had a certain verbal tic that he fell back into whenever he placed the characters in a tough spot. Ironically, I just watched this movie for the first time this past week and absolutely loved it. I think it might be one of my all time favs. I did, however, not notice the verbal tic which is exactly what it is - you are so right. Such a pessimistic group about their planet being taken over by auto-robots...geesh....
